Fears, Faith, Flattery

I had a face down moment a few weeks ago.  Like down in the ground, dirt in my mouth moment. God is really stretching my faith, my perspective and my attitude.  I am currently in an unmoveable situation of discomfort, there is no 'feeling it' unless you count discomfort, bitterness  and sometimes it feels like waves crashing over me.  Anger, resentment, frustration, self destructive behaviors and guess what, its all from being obedient to what God told me to do.  Yep I said it, obedient, God told me something and it brought me to the place of discomfort, frustration, bitterness, anger and resentment.  I don't know where you are in your faith but these are not fruits of the spirit, these are fruits of the flesh and in utter frustration I threw my hands up, binged watched netflix that day in the dark, and hid from the world.  So it was no shock the next day as I picked up my Bible and my journal I read my devotion and wrote in my journal.  "I am s...

Relationships in the Wait

So last week I talked to you guys about the growth in the wait and how God can use disappointments to be catalysts to where exactly he wants us.  Now if you are anything like me, this statement frustrates you because you are right smack dab in the middle of disappointment, and to you I would continue to encourage you to speak God's truths over your situations, find safe people and get in right relationships.  It is here I want to start this week because we live in a very interconnected cyber world and yet and very disconnected physical world.  I have a seventeen year old step son who I love very much, but he doesn't much like people.  He calls it 'fobbing' when you are on your phone in order to avoid any human interaction.  Sadly, most of us are fobbing through our life trying to avoid the very people God wants us to interact with while trying to impress those who won't remember us in a year.  Ouch, I would highly encourage you this week to sit down and r...

The Growth in the Wait: Disappointment

So last week I talked to you all about the tension in the wait and what faith really is.  Well, its the space between waiting and trusting at the same time.  This week I want to talk to you about a different part of the wait, one that builds character, that allows our roots to go deep, or allows us to stop growing all together.  It is the pain in the wait.   Now I don't know about you, but I don't like to be in pain, but at least once a week my husband uses a torture device on my neck and shoulders to loosen up the muscles.  It hurts, I have to breath through the pain, but the pain of the massage is nothing compared to what would happen if I threw my back out, which I have done.  I truly believe there are several different kinds of pain that we can either use as catalysts or death certificates. The Growth of disappointment:      Lisa Harper says "Disappointment is guaranteed, Drama is a choice."  Life is completely and totally full of...

The Tension in the Wait

Ok so I am going to level with you guys this week, I hate strength training. I first realized my hate for it in high school when I realized track team was not for me.  In middle school I was a fast runner, I could sprint when I was in middle school all the way down the first base line and bunt and outrun the ball.  I loved running so fast that I could fly, and there were a few times I did and ran over the first baseman.  So one of the dads told my dad I should join track.  I HATED IT.  I hated running just to run, there was no ball I was trying to outrun, and I loathed conditioning.  I had a musical practice and missed a whole week of conditioning, and when I came back the girls who were slower than me a week before were now faster than me.  They were impressed with their results, I quit track but chose to pursue the musical that I was in, because I saw my passion was not in the running itself but beating out the ball.  When I tried to condition...

Its so hard in the middle.

I sat down on the day of my thirty second birthday, feeling honestly just tired, I felt like I was a failure as a leader, a failure as a minister in my community.  I felt tired, rejected and when I feel that way I go to my heavenly father.  I went to him and started writing "God I didn't think it would be this hard, it is costing me so much, my team complains to me that I am not enough, other leaders that I thought would help me treat me like I am the plague, people I thought were my friends only call me to get information. I didn't think it would be this hard, seriously.."  I stopped right there and began to laugh at myself.   I actually laughed out loud as w I put my words to paper I saw my immaturity right in my face.  "I am sorry Lord, at what point did I ever think this was going to be easy."  I have never been completely all in 100% until I launched our Propel Outreach a year ago.  I sat down with Erin a year ago at this time and didn't meet her ...

Gratefulness 2016

Hello fellow Turkey goers!  My house currently smells of Pumpkin Pie and Nic and I have spent the evening baking pies.  I already see news feeds all atweet with #grateful #TurkeyDay and "What do we talk about with our families for Thanksgiving?  We have a generation of greed and envy that twenty four seven bombards us with messages of "you need" or "you want"  and then one day a year we are supposed to be able to put a thought behind the words "Thanksgiving." It really hit me on Monday as I picked up my child from school, like I do everyday.  My youngest child was in the back seat asking me if we could go to the Thanksgiving Feast at her school.  Well I worked a twelve hour shift that night and her dad had a long day at work so the answer was "No, I am sorry but No."  She does struggle with FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) as does every six year old.  But her response really threw me for a loop.  "D...

I just want to see the ugly moments

My friend is pretty epic, I love her dearly and she and her husband are so mild mannered that it would shock you to meet her child. He is amazing, like seriously the kid is genius bright and has a stubborn streak a mile long. We were sitting down and she said "I just love seeing other peoples kids throw fits in the store. It gives me hope." I laughed so hard because she smiled her precious smile and her adorable dimples came out and we continued on in our day but that moment truly stuck with me. When I go to the mall and here someones kid screaming I giggle inside and almost wanna take a video and share it with her because it gives her hope. You see Nic and I never took our girls anywhere when they were little. We learned very early our minions didn't leave the house. So I cannot speak to my friends plight but she definately speaks into my thoughts. I don't know if you are ever like this too but seriously I do just wanna see the ugly moments people have...
